I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of Colonial Office letter of 9th March 1901, N° 157/29, and with reference to the second paragraph to inform you that unless urgent reasons compel the despatch of more troops to China, it is not considered desirable to send any regiment out of this country until South African claims grow less.
